News 2007 - January

HAPPY NEW YEAR
ALL THE BEST YOU WISH FOR YOURSELF

Another year has started - for Sierra Leone we are looking forward to the fulfillment of three promises:

  1. We were promised food security - so that people should not go to bed hungry
  2. Smooth transition of government - that means an election free from fear in July 2007
  3. We were promised electricity for the whole country

We pray and hope that they will come to pass.

The church is doing well. More people have being added to the congregation and the school projects are a real blessing to the community.

Thank you for the funds provided for them.

The teachers are really doing well, preparing class six (6) for their national examination.

We are trying to register them.

In November 2006 we had a lot of training for all of our pastors and we also made it open for pastors from other denominations. We had 126 in total. It brought the pastors together and gave us a clear vision for 2007.

As God is taking us to the other side (Mark 8:13) we are standing at the zebra crossing ready to cross over, we have never passed that way before but God is going to be our leader.

Sport Life International

Issa and I went to Ghana for a conference organized by the West African Sport Ministry, it was very challenging and we learnt a lot from the other ministries.

I was elected alongside Kofi in Ghana to act as convener for English Speaking West Africa.

The sport camp was on the 18th - 22nd December 2006. We had 206 participate and 30 volunteers as coaches, bible study teachers cooks etc.

46 gave there life to Christ, they came from Muslim schools and sport clubs, each one was given a Bible and somebody to walk with them.

We have brought in more volunteers from churches and organizations so that we can send in 2 representatives because it will improve our relationship through the churches and organizations.

We are organizing two inter-church tournaments i.e. football, and athletics in January - March 2007.

PLEASE PRAY:

  1. The election in July "too much tension building up"
  2. National Development:
    - Electricity
    - Clean drinking water
    - Food Security
  3. Spiritual Growth for pastors and members
  4. The teachers and children as they prepare for there fist National Exam
  5. More people to know Christ in our churches
  6. Local income generation project
  7. Stability for the Community Church in Freetown - as our congregation has been affected badly by moving from place to place
  8. Sport Life - More opening into churches and schools
  9. Safety on the road as we travel from place to place
