About the church
Maima Village's only Church was built on the initiative of Rev. Yatta Samura and Pastor James McCarthy. It opened officially on 20 November 2004.
The community has long had a zeal for God and a desire to worship him but needed a better place to worship. The makeshift mud edifice they were using before, without proper roofing and walls, was unuseable once the April rains came.
The Church is managed by an Eldership Council. It is part of a Project which includes a primary school which now caters for the needs of children in the area.
The St. Andrew's Community Church aims:
- To improve and increase the worship of God and church attendance in Maima village and its surrounding eight villages
- To promote and enhance fellowship, unity, peace and reconciliation amongst the people of Maima and its surrounding villages
